Newton is known as the Garden City. It is a city located six miles west of Boston and lies within the Boston Basin, which is a tiny structure of the Appalachian Mountain Range.

Newton is a vibrant community and one of the most desirable places to live in Massachusetts due to its location near Boston, various highway and public transportation systems, attractive neighborhoods and high property values. Newton has also a well-run municipal government with a strong, nationally-recognized school system. Newton was voted as being one of the safest cities to live in the United States just recently.
It has well maintained parks, bicycle and fitness trails, golf courses, a public pool and lake. Newton features a farmer's market from July through October. They have a new, state-of-art, award-winning Library.
The Homestead Museum in Newton is one of 712 nationally-accredited museums (out of 6,200 museums country-wide). Newton has a Symphony Orchestra, resident theatre groups and Arts in the Parks Program.
Newton, Massachusetts received the U.S. Conference of Mayors' Livability Award in 1993. It was one of 5 cities nationwide, with a population over 50,000, to receive the award.
The city of Newton is in eastern Massachusetts, bordered by Needham on the southwest, Wellesley and Weston on the west, Waltham and Watertown on the north, Brookline and Boston on the east, and Boston on the southeast. It is 8 miles west of Boston and about 210 miles from New York City.
There is excellent rail, air, and highway facilities with numerous spokes providing direct access to the airport, port and intermodal facilities of Boston.
Bus Services
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority provides fixed route service to neighboring communities and offers THE RIDE (a paratransit service) for the elderly and disabled. Peter Pan Bus lines provides service to Boston, Worcester, Springfield and points beyond with local service Monday through Friday between Boston and Worcester.
